What is Tajweed?
Islamic scholars have classified the Tajweed rules of the Qur’an as follows:

Noon and Meem Moshaddadah:
The rule applies to the letters noon (ن) and meem (م), which have a shaddah mark (نً / مً) with a 2-bar Ghunnah.

Al Qalqalah:
The rule is about vibrations in the sound at the end of the pronunciation of some letters: Qaaf (ق), Ttaa(ت), Baa(ب), Jiim(ج) or Daal(د). This can be used in the case of sukoon or shaddah. And includes minor, middle and major.

Midday Sakinah and Tanween:
This rule applies to the letter noon (ن) with the sukoon mark. Tanween is the pronunciation of noon sakinah at the end of a word without writing noon (اً). And it includes Izhaar, Idghaam, Iqlaab and Ikhfaa.

Meem Sakinah:
The rule is laid down for the letter meem (م) with the sukoon mark on it. And it includes Ikhfaa Shafawy, Idghaam Shafawy and Izhar Shafawy.

Extension:
It means to give a letter from two to six bars according to its type.

Heavy and light letters:
Arabic letters are divided into heavy and light according to pronunciation.

Laam Shamsyiah & Qamaryiah (ل):
It has only two clear rules: Izhar and Idgaam

Al Hamzah (أ):
There are two types of hamzah: Hamza-tul Oata’, and it can be at the beginning, middle or end of a word. Hamzah-tul Wasl exists at the beginning of words and dropped out in continuation.
