• Sincerity of intention to Allah Almighty;

You must reform your intention by making learning ,and memorizing of Quran is only for seeking Allah’s face, winning His Paradise, and obtaining His pleasure.

As Allah Almighty said “so worship Allah ˹alone˺, being sincerely devoted to Him*Indeed, sincere devotion is due ˹only˺ to Allah” Az-Zumar (2:3).

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Allah (glorified and exalted be He) said: I am so self-sufficient that I am in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does an action for someone else’s sake as well as Mine will have that action renounced by Me to him whom he associated with Me.” Narrated by Muslim

So there is no reward for any person learning or memorizing the holly Quran as ostentation or to gain reputation.

It is necessary to have a sheikh master those fields of knowledge such as (tajweed, tellawa (recitation) and tarteel) in order to take his instructions, and recite to him the verses you memorized, so the Sheikh will correct its pronunciation to you by reciting it because correcting the pronunciation takes precedence over memorization, and correcting the recitation is only by listening from sheikh.

So the Qur’an is not taken except by recitation, as it was taken by the most eloquent Arabs who is the prophet Muhammad may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – from Gabriel orally, and the Companions took it from the Messenger – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – orally and also took it for generations. • To continue without a long break:

you must learn every day without break, because if you stop you will forget the words of Allah Almighty, and makes you every time you read as if you are reading again, and the matter will be very difficult for you.

• Memorizing by repetition:

you must repeat the first verse from your task twenty times, then repeat the following verses; each verse will be repeated separately twenty times, until the verses reach four, then link the four verses, and repeated them twenty times, then start to learn another four verses, and each verse is repeated twenty times in the same way, then link the other new four verses and recite them twenty times, and after That which has been linked in the two memorizers is repeated twenty times.

Upon completion of memorizing one page of the Qur’an, and before starting a new memorization, this memorization is repeated twenty times. Until it is firmly established, installed, then you shall begin the new memorization, and this was expressed by Imam Abu Abdullah Al-Bukhari, the author of the Sahih, who puzzled the world with the accuracy of his memorization when he was asked about a medicine for memorization, so he said: by looking at the thing for long time.

• permanent recitation:

The learner must not rely on reciting his memorization on himself, but rather he must recite his memorization on another memorizer, or another follower master Quran, and this memorizer or follower is proficient in the correct reading, so that the memorizer is alerted you if you do any mistake in pronunciation or if forgetting something.

• Revision:

The Qur’an differs in memorization from any other memorized poetry or prose, because the Qur’an is quick to escape from the mind.

The hafiz leaves it for a little while until he escapes from it and forgets it quickly. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly follow up and constantly watch over the memorized from the Qur’an.

Ibn ‘Umar reported the Prophet as saying, “He who studies the Qur’ān is like the owner of tethered camels. If he pays attention to them he keeps hold of them, but if he lets them loose they go away.” (Narrated by Bukhārī and Muslim.) This means that the memorizer of the Qur’an must have a permanent daily task in order to review what he has memorized.

And let me tell you what sheikh Abdul Hakim Al-Qasim said about memorizing, and reviewing it.

As he said: ‘”Many of those who want to learn are mean to seek memorization, but as soon as memorization increases, they stumbles by missing the old memorization, so the new memorization becomes good and the old get worth by the time, so he goes to review the old, and if he returns to his last memorization he finds that it has escaped, and becomes in a whirlpool, and he doesn’t know What should he do to solve this problem?”

The most important obstacles to memorizing is the rapid forgetting of mechanisms, because the human mind has a short memory and a long memory, and when we learn new thing it will be put is in the short memory, but by revision and repetition the memorized thing it will move to the long memory.

Therefore, you must have a plan to review next to the memorization plan, and your plan should be based on the ability to review everything you memorized in a specific period, and the solution: to this problem by treating memorization, revision in a specific order, and in four ways that must be combined to control the Quran memorization.

1. General review of all memorized:

It is the basis, and this review of all the memorized is divided into seven days, whether it is easy or difficult, even if the mistakes are many, so it becomes a as it completely forgotten. So don’t worry and if you make any mistake, then open the Mushaf without sadness or panic.

The benefit of this method: is to stabilize the memorized part as it is, so that it does not increase in stagnation, and to reduce mistakes by time, if you keep review over again, and an example of this method; like removing dust from place and keep doing that and by time we will see this place clean over and over.

2. Review the new part on the following days:

If you memorize a part today, review it for three consecutive days to strengthen this new, weak memorization, for example: plastering the wall and spraying it for three days to strengthen.

3. Sub-review to master the memorized part

The quantity of this review decreases and increases, and that is according to one’s ability, and according to the difficulty. it can be in the intervening times, such as unused waiting times, in the car or on the way to work, and so on.

Its usefulness: is to speed up the adjustment of the memorized part that are reviewed by general revision.

4. New task should be mastered very well:

As there is no objection to increasing the amount or reducing it. The student memorizes according to his ability and desire, and repeats the memorization on the same day, until he master it.

You also must arrange the old tasks daily according to the previous order, and it is necessary to do the first, than the second, than the third and so on. And take your time to memorize each part perfectly.

• Take your time to memorize each part perfectly:

As slow memorization is better than fast, impulsive memorization: slow memorization means moving your eyes to the right and left very slowly, as if you were filming with a video camera, looking like this at the Qur’an right and left and focusing on the verses and lines that you will memorize. Because you will memorize forms other than mechanisms.

• Praying with what you memorized:

Praying by reciting the Qur’an that you memorized is one of the most effective ways to help you a lot in good memorization.

• Understand the meanings of the verses:

The memorizer must understand what he reads as learn does not mean just memorization, but he must study the meanings of the verses in order to memorize them easily.

Conclusion

It is not enough to choose the best way to memorize the Noble Qur’an only, but you must stay away from committing sins as Allah says “Be mindful of Allah, for Allah ˹is the One Who˺ teaches you.” (Al-Baqarah 282).

Also from what was reported by Imam al-Shafi’i, that  he said,“I complained to WkEI’ (his teacher) my bad memorization, & as he guide me to give up sins, and told me that knowledge is light & and light of Allah doesn’t give to sinful.”
