Muhammad – PBUH: “And so we have sent to you ˹O Prophet˺ a revelation by Our command. You did not know of ˹this˺ Book and faith ˹before˺. But we have made it a light, by which We guide whomever We will of Our servants. And you are truly leading ˹all˺ to the Straight Path.” [Surat Al-Shura: 52]

Weeping over One Day without Reading Quran
One day, people entered one of the Companions to find him bitterly weeping. They asked him: Are you complaining of pain? He said: something more serious. They said: What is that? He said: I slept yesterday and did not read my usual part of the Quran, and that is only because I committed some sin!!
Reading the Whole Quran in one night
Al-Bukhari and Al-Nasa’i narrated, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr who said: “I read the Quran all in one night, The Messenger of Allah – PBUH – said: Read it in a month. I said: O Messenger of Allah, let me enjoy my strength and my youth. He said: Read it in twenty (days). I said: Let me enjoy. He said: Read it in seven nights. I said: Let me enjoy, Messenger of Allah, He (Abdullah) said: He (The Messenger of Allah) refused.”
So look at this gluttony, this love, and this eagerness to read the Quran, when the companions of Prophet Muhammad knew the benefits of reading Quran.
One should take a gradual approach, starting with learning how to read Quran. Then one should make it is a habit to read Quran daily, starting with a small part then he may read more and more.
Etiquette of Reading Quran
There are some etiquettes which are recommended for the Quran reader in order to get the benefits of reading Quran and the pleasure of Allah -The Almighty, among which are:
Sincerity – Quran Reader in Hell Fire
One should make every act he does sincerely for Allah alone. The reader of the Quran in order to get the benefits of reading Quran shall seek the reward and pleasure of Allah alone. He should not intend by reading Quran to reach one of the worldly benefits; Such as money, prestige, or people’s praise on him.
In some hadiths, it was stated that the reader of the Quran who is not sincere will be among the first to be burned by the fire on the Day of Resurrection.
Reading the Quran without Wudu (ablution)
It is recommended for the reader of the Quran in order to get the utmost benefits of reading Quran to read the Quran with Wudu’. Reading the Quran without Wudu is permissible, but not the best case.
Reading Quran with Janaban
As for those who are in the state of Janabah, it is forbidden for them to read the Quran. However, he can listen to it.
Reading Quran with Menstruation
Women that has menstruation or birth bleeding cannot read the Quran, except for the case of education.
In that case, She cannot touch the Book of Allah except with pure thing (ex: cloth) between her hand and the Book of Allah.
Best direction when Reading Quran
It is recommended to face the Qiblah while reading Quran in order to get the utmost benefits of reading Quran.
Reading the Quran while lying down
It is recommended to sit with reverence and dignity, however reading it in bed or lying down is permissible, but is not the best case that enables you to get the utmost benefits of reading Quran.
Seeking Refuge against Satan
Allah ordered us in the Quran to seek His protection from Satan upon reading Quran. It is to say: “I seek refuge with Allah from the cursed and rejected Satan.
Allah says: {when you recite the Quran, seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed.} Nahl: 98
When Allah protects you from Satan, you have the chance to focus and get the utmost benefits of reading Quran.
Saying Basmalah
Basmalah is to say: “Bism Allah al-Rahman al-Raheem”, which means, “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” One should start his recitation for the Quran by this phrase, to be qualified to take the utmost benefits of reading Quran.
Surah that One Should Start without Basmalah
One should begin with Surat Al-Tawbah without saying Basmalah.
Can one read Quran Quickly?

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him – he heard the Messenger of Allah says: “Allah has not listened to anything as He does to a prophet with a good voice reciting the Qur’ān aloud.” –Narrated by Al-Bukhari-
Weeping when Reading Quran
Weeping when reading Quran is recommended, as it is one of the characteristics of those who are close to Allah.
Allah Almighty said: {When the verses of the Most Merciful are recited to them, they fall down prostrate and weep} [Surat Maryam: 58].
How do you keep reciting the Quran?
To get the benefits of reading Quran, Muslims should keep reciting the Quran during the night and the day, as much as they can. Muslims should have a daily recitation of the Quran.

The Companions – may Allah be pleased with them – used to divide Quran into daily parts, and finish it every week They used to read a part every day, to complete the recitation of the all Quran every week;
Continuously reciting Quran as much as one can every day is the habit of the righteous Muslims, and it is also one of the most beloved deeds to Allah.
